"Bionions World Series of Poker 2004 and Moneymaker"

Like many people, I've caught the Bionions world series of poker bug pretty big over the past year, having watched Chris Moneymaker's infamous win over Farha. So I tried to get some friends to go over to Vegas for this year's 2004 world series of pker and perhaps win our way to millions ala Moneymaker.

I was lucky enough to find a friend and his wife, who were even more into poker than I am. The perfect couple, eh? We looked online and secured ourselves rooms at the Las Vegas Club next to Bionions and got down to business.

Did we get in? Well, the 2004 World Series of Poker is just starting and we're just beginning our Moneymaker-ish run, but here is a report of our first couple days.

Day 1
here now in Krispy Kreme....the free internet hangout of Downtown Vegas apparently. Decent first night. Got in at 11pm. Played at Binions and the Plaza and up $30 or so...the rakes and tips do you in though. But it was nice to play at Binions...:)

Shelly just saw Phil Helmuth...and me and Joe saw this crazy no limit game at Binions with one guy from the World Poker Tour...I think they call him the magician? He had a stack of hundreds and was constantly talking, just like in one of those poker books like the Big Deal. Crazy no limit action...or did I just say that...

Day 2-3 morning

Just lost in a $20 single table tournament. First one out!...:) oh well, more time to write while Shelly and Joe finish up.

Shelly had a big day yesterday, her first in casino play, up like $100+ though she spent that on an unsuccesful WSOP entry attempt.

I lost $50 in the morning, mainly on a hand I forgot that a full house beats a flush. The board is KKQQX with 3 hearts and for some reason, I'm way excited about my nut flush and am reraising. Very humorous in retrospect and I learned to be careful with my tired state. I'm always a bit wired here, so it seems like I need less sleep...but I'm sure it affects me. Indeed, everyone in this city from the waiters to the dealers seems a bit giddy from tiredness.

I did win $114 in the evening session at Bionions...plus we've gotten lots of comps for meals, so it's been pretty successful, I guess....so far...

More to come...:)
